Condition examination
The problem with teeth and oral health is that often we don’t notice damage or disease until it has become so large or serious that it can be difficult to repair or treat simply. That is why it is important to have your teeth and mouth carefully examined to assess the situation and prevent further damage. We offer condition examinations for adults who have not had regular dental check-ups for a long time.

What a condition examination includes:
- Your general health and medication use are reviewed along with possible effects on oral health.
- Necessary X-rays are taken to assess the condition of teeth, tooth roots, and jawbone regarding disease or infections.
- Careful examination of teeth, gums, and oral mucosa.
- Individualized instructions on oral hygiene.
- If your condition requires further treatment, a treatment proposal and cost estimate will be made.
- It is assessed how often you need to come for regular check-ups and dental cleaning.
- No treatment is expected to take place during the appointment. The dentist allows ample time to explain the examination results, possible treatment plan, and answer all questions you have or that arise during the conversation.
Note that sometimes further examinations are needed to finally decide which treatment is recommended in each case, for example, 3D X-rays or a specialist’s opinion.
Sometimes only the first phase of treatment can be planned before more extensive treatment is decided based on the results of the first phase.
Why a condition examination?
The purpose of the condition examination is to get a comprehensive picture of your oral health and treatment needs. The examination helps identify disease in teeth, roots, jawbone, or oral mucosa that you have not noticed or have only noticed slightly.
A condition examination may also be necessary before cancer treatment or other extensive medical treatment, such as joint replacement. The examination can prevent infections in teeth or jaw from having undesirable effects on medical treatment or your health during it.
In some cases, a condition examination may be required due to work, for example, if work takes place far from accessible dental services or if the job is of a nature that sudden symptoms of dental problems could interfere with performance in sensitive tasks.
What does a condition examination cost?
We have a fixed price for condition examinations for uninsured patients. You can see the price in our price list.
Those who receive subsidies from the Health Insurance pay 25% of the Health Insurance price list. Due to agreements with the Health Insurance, there is no fixed price in those cases, but the price depends on which charges are used each time.
